Welcome to the UM House Officers Association!
I’m thrilled to report that the more than 1200 members of the University of Michigan House Officers Association (HOA) have voted to affiliate with us and become AFT Local 5158. HOA represents more than 1200 resident physicians at Michigan Medicine and has accomplished tremendous things since its founding in 1972. HOA joins our fast-growing healthcare division–including resident units at Wayne State, Western Michigan, and the Detroit Medical Center–and approximately 10,000 UM employees represented by AFT locals at the University. Welcome HOA!

FNTFO Solidarity Tailgate Fun!
Members of FNTFO, the non-tenure track faculty union at Ferris State University, spent this past Saturday afternoon sharing delicious rice, beans, and butter chicken to a packed homecoming crowd at Top Taggart Stadium . The good eats came with a side of information about members’ important contributions to the university, their working conditions and the low wages they experience. It was a busy, yummy and fun kick-off to the union’s bargaining campaign this academic year. FNTFO is focusing on winning big changes in their problematic appointment structure along with more union protection for online instructors. Let’s wish them a winning season.
