In AFT MI Update
vote smart

Election Day is tomorrow — Tuesday, November 5th!

The momentum is swinging in our direction – it was great getting texts and seeing social media posts of so many AFT Michigan activists out on the doors and attending events this weekend.

Now we have to close the deal.

1. I hope you’ve already voted, but if you haven’t, take 2 minutes right now to make sure you know when and where you’re headed to the polls tomorrow:

2. Who’s a person in your life that you’re not sure is going to vote (maybe that niece or nephew who just graduated or your neighbor who works two jobs and could tell you everything about the Lions but not necessarily who’s on the ballot)? Reach out to them this evening and make sure they have a plan to vote – look up their polling place, let them know what the ballot will look like, etc.

3. Can you do one more shift of door-knocking or phone-banking to make sure every union household turns out? Find everything you need from phonebanks to canvass sites here

4. Unfortunately, we know there are some bad actors out there planning to disrupt the election process. If you see something that seems wrong at a polling place, please report it at the Election Protection Hotline: 866-OUR-VOTE.

Just like in the past couple presidential elections, we’re unlikely to know the final results tomorrow night, which will be anxiety-provoking for all of us. Remember how important it is that every vote be counted and how tens of thousands of dedicated election workers are diligently focused on that task. Find your community – in person if possible – and remember that we are stronger together.

As Vice President Harris loves to remind us, “When we vote, we win!”

In solidarity,

Terrence Martin

President
