Lamphere Leader Honored as Oakland County Outstanding Teacher of the Year
The Oakland County Outstanding Teacher of the Year Award is presented annually to honor and reward teachers in Oakland County who have achieved the highest standards of excellence in the education profession. This award recognizes an elementary, middle/junior high, and high school teacher from Oakland County. The high school teacher of the year was Julie Martinez from Lamphere High School, who currently serves as Vice President of the Lamphere Federation of Teachers, AFT Local 1614. Congratulations Julie!
MSU-UNTF Solidarity Rally Wednesday
On Wednesday, May 11 at 8:45 am, UNTF, the union of non-tenured faculty at Michigan State University will be having a solidarity rally for fair pay. Non-tenured faculty at MSU are some of the lowest paid in the Big 10. The local is asking members and community allies to come to the Human Resources Building on MSU’s main campus to show their support as the union starts bargaining economic issues.
