Lincoln Consolidated Transportation Union Ratifies New Contract
Congratulations to the members of the Lincoln Consolidated Transportation Union, AFT Local 6740, who unanimously ratified their first contract as an AFT local last week. Among other improvements, the contract includes a $3/hour raise and increased paid snow days. Great job by President Kaki Prater and the entire LCTU leadership team.
EMU AAUP-AFT Rallies for a Fair Contract
EMU AAUP-AFT Local 6759 members picketed two University dorms as students were moving in Friday to highlight the fact that tenured and tenure-track faculty do not have a contract as the start of school arrives. The administration’s current proposal includes sharp increases in healthcare costs and low annual raises, and they have rejected union proposals that advance diversity, equity and inclusion, improve workload and assure shared governance.
AFT & White House to Host School Safety Webinar Thursday
The AFT is partnering with the White House to hold a webinar answering your questions. Chipotle Workers Organize
Workers at a Chipotle Mexican Grill in Lansing, Mich., voted 11 – 3 to unionize on Thursday, establishing the first union at the fast food chain nationwide. These workers are now members of the Teamsters. These workers join those at Amazon, Starbucks, Trader Joe’s, and Apple that have voted union. Like with so many of these companies, Chipotle strongly opposed the union, using the tired old line that a union is a third party, refusing to admit that the union is the workers.
