Join Us for Another Tele-Town Hall with Gov. Gretchen Whitmer
AFT Michigan, AFSCME and MEA members are invited to attend a telephone town hall on Thursday, April 2, at 1:30 p.m. with Gov. Gretchen Whitmer regarding the coronavirus outbreak and its impact on public education. Only members for whom we have valid landline home phones can receive an automated call inviting them to attend. Due to FCC rules, we cannot use an automated dialer to reach cell phones.
Only have a cell phone? No problem!
For anyone who wishes to be called on their cell phone to take part in the teletownhall or who wants to make sure we dial the correct home number where they can be reached, please RSVP to affirmatively consent to us calling you.
Please note, if you RSVP’d for the March 23 event, you will be automatically RSVP’d for this April 2 call. (We understand many RSVPs did not receive calls for the prior event and are working to ensure everyone interested has access this time. We apologize for the previous issues.)
Click here to RSVP for the Tele-Town Hall — the deadline for cellphone RSVP is Thursday, April 2, at 9am. Responses received after that time will not get a call.
The RSVP form also includes a space for you to list any questions you’d like asked during the forum. While we know we will not have time to get every question answered on the call, we will do our best to provide answers as soon as possible.
AFT Michigan Endorses U.S. Senator Peters
Last night, AFT Michigan’s Administrative Board voted unanimously to endorse United States Senator Gary Peters for re-election. Senator Peters has been a fighter for public education, working families and their unions throughout his entire career. Currently, he is heavily involved with developing Congress’ response to COVID-19.
I talked with Gary this morning and he expressed his deep appreciation for the tremendous work you are all doing during this crisis.
In solidarity,
David Hecker, President
