AFT Michigan Response to Stay of Appeal on Marriage Equality:
“Families are families, no matter what they look like and today’s news is cause for celebration for the loving couples who are finally being recognized by the state. It’s also a victory for the millions of Michiganders who want to see their state on the side of equality,” said David Hecker, president of AFT Michigan. “Marriage equality is a civil rights issue that AFT Michigan and the labor community have supported for years and we’re pleased to see this type of progress. This news is good for working families, as well as the communities in which they live.”
