Senate Bill 366
This bill would eliminate the state mandate that school districts must provide for fifteen professional development days for teachers in their first three year of teaching, as well as the requirement that all teachers be provided five days of professional development per year.

Senate Bill 393
This bill would raise the cap on the number of charter schools that can be chartered by public universities and allow for the creation of 15 new charter high schools in the City of Detroit. This bill would allow for an additional 350 new charters to be created over the next ten years.

Senate Bill 556 (Sub. H-1)
This house substitute for Senate Bill 556 would have done great harm to our childrenÕs education by cutting funding for small class size, cutting millions of dollars from the Intermediate School DistrictsÕ reserve funds, cutting millions of dollars from funds provided to the Òhold harmlessÓ school districts (Section 20J), and cutting millions of dollars promised to the Detroit School District when the Detroit School takeover occurred.

Senate Bill 852
This bill amended the Income Tax Act to delay the rate reduction from January 1, 2004 to July 1, 2004.

House Bill 4388
This amendment would have added more than $17 million to funding for community colleges on par with the funding increases for colleges and universities in the Higher Education Budget.

House Bill 4401
This amendment to the School Aid budget would have deposited $98 million from the federal government into a new School Aid Rainy Day Fund to protect education from cuts if the stateÕs budget has a shortfall before the end of the fiscal year.

House Bill 4693
This bill would permit school districts to apply for an Ed Flex Contract allowing them to waive state statutes and rules.

House Bill 4724
This bill would permit school districts to apply for an Ed Flex Contract allowing them to waive state statutes and rules.

House Bill 5517
Amendment to general government budget bill that would help catch tax cheaters who owe money to the state.
