On October 24, AFT members from across the state gathered at EMU to build our organizing skills, learn from each other, and support the community engagement work of our Washtenaw County locals. Working in teams, we knocked on hundreds of doors to invite community members to participate in the work of the Washtenaw Regional Organizing Coalition (WeROC), a labor-faith-community coalition whose core members include several AFT locals.

The event also marked the premiere of our new video showcasing the work of WeROC and the Michigan Education Justice Coalition to bring together parents, educators, and community to fight for the strong schools and communities our students deserve.
